The Need, The Action
The story begins:
In 2004, Greg & Sue Bartlett won a holiday to Vanuatu. Whilst they were there, they met a young girl by the name of Susan. Prior to them meeting her, Sue Bartlett awoke from a dream in the middle of the night. The dream was about her namesake, this young girl Susan. Sue knew that they had to do something to change her world. They found the young girl in the nearby local village. As her village is one of the poorest in Vanuatu, her family had no means for an income.
Seeing the plight of the local village, Greg and Sue decided to send Susan to school and pay for her tuition. However, they could not stop at this and began to ask themselves the question ‘what else could they do?’. The couple returned a year later with a team of people to assist in much needed repairs and renovations of the amenities in Susan’s local village.
From there, the dream of educating Susan has grown to become a vision to see hope brought to the lives of not just one girl, but thousands of children and families who need educating, equipping and empowering.
Greg and Sue Bartlett, along with a committee of members, have now founded the organisation Evidence, working 'to bring equality and justice to men and women'. Evidence was officially established in 2007, and through a dedicated team of volunteers, the work has continued in Vanuatu.
The Action!
“To bring equality of life and justice where there is injustice.”
Mission: We believe in the value of
- Quality Education for Children
- Equipping men and women with training and skills that enable a self-sustainable future
- Empowering individuals to achieve their dreams
The Need, Why Vanuatu?
Vanuatu is a developing nation, known as one of the poorest islands in the Pacific region. The people in Vanuatu are so grateful for the support that Evidence provides. It's not just about what we can give to them today but what we can teach them for tomorrow.
